Business Challenge
Mitsubishi’s Tokyo office stressed the need for all employees to have a solid understanding of the principles of finance throughout the operation. New York-based Senior Vice President of Human Resources Richard Lovell wanted to provide training where people can learn skills they can actually apply on the job. Mitsubishi was also faced with training people from different backgrounds and with varying skill sets.
AMA Solution
Lovell and HR Manager Jil Galloway had had positive experiences with AMA in the past. They worked with AMA staff and instructors to create a customized workshop that covered the basic elements of finance and marketing and then tied in elements of problem solving and decision making. AMA took into consideration the fact that for many of the participants, English was a second language.
Results
The participants’ reactions to the session were positive across the board. Management was also pleased with the end results. But the ultimate proof of success was that Mitsubishi came back for more: rolling out the workshop to a new group of managers and launching a negotiation skills program patterned after the concept of teaching people relevant job skills.
